Why Chile

We chose Chile because it was the perfect blend of outdoor adventure on the front end, with relax and unplug on the back end. We knew that getting to this corner of the world would require a good amount of travel, but from our research we knew it would be well worth it. You might also be thinking the same thing we did – how in the world are we going to do a 14 hour hike? It sounds daunting. In reality, with stellar guides and the most beautiful backdrop in the world, we found that it is very possible.

The Edge of the World

Patagonia feels like the edge of an ancient world where stillness meets endurance. Glaciers crown jagged mountains that pierce the sky, the stoic landscape guarding valleys seemingly untouched by the modern world, remnants of a prehistoric time carved by wind and water. Once home to indigenous peoples, the region remains a living reminder of nature’s power and fragility.

Torres del Paine National Park stands at the heart of Patagonia, a paradox of preservation and pilgrimage. Open just a few months each year, it draws travelers who want to stand at the edge of the earth, where ocean meets the land and time feels suspended.

We’ve done our share of trails but Patagonia redefined our limits and love for hiking. These two treks were the most challenging and the most rewarding.

French Valley / Valle del Francés

A hike through shifting landscapes – forests, rocky climbs, and panoramic lookouts. Glaciers hang from the cliffs and creak in the distance. The trail climbs steadily, each turn revealing a new face of the massif.

Base Towers / Mirador Las Torres

The icon of the park. A steep, demanding climb ends at a turquoise lagoon beneath three towering granite spires. We applaud those who trek the W and O circuits but the guided day hikes were perfect for us – demanding and deeply fulfilling.
